Staten Island Greek Festival – Sept 18 – 20th, 2009

Live music, folk dancers, carnival stuff, rides and crafts but I want the food!

Among the traditional Greek pastries: Those fried dough favorites, aka loukoumades; koulourakia or butter cookies; baklava, and ravani or a Farina cake made with butter and honey. On the main menu are lamb, beef and pork shish kabob, as well as Greek salad, spanakopeta and moussaka.

There will also be a Greek warrior reenactment group performing, The Spartans.

Sept. 18-20
Friday 6 p.m.-midnight, Saturday 2 p.m.-midnight and Sunday 2-10 p.m.
Admission: $1. Children younger than 5 are admitted free.
