I love hot dogs…
…and I actually really like Martha Stewart.
I caught her show today and they had a great show on Hot Dogs! She tried 60 hot dogs from around the NYC area and, with her assistant, picked out 14 of their favorite dogs.
Of course, this information has to be shared to as many people as possible. I applaud MS’s fortitude in this attempt at selecting greatness among greatness. Here are her 14 favorite dogs:
Katz’s Delicatessen: Manhattan, New York
Hot dog with mustard and sauerkraut – grilled Sabrett
Crif Dogs: Manhattan, New York
Chihuahua Hot Dog – Bacon-wrapped and fried
Hot Diggity Dog: Manhattan, New York
Slaw dog – Grilled Boar’s Head hot dog with coleslaw and celery salt.
Max’s: Long Branch, New Jersey

Ben’s Best: Rego Park, Queens, New York

Ditch Plains: Manhattan, New York
The Ditch Dog -Topped with homemade macaroni and cheese. (Her assistant’s favorite)
For me, I’ve tried only a handful of those on the list, the basic ones such as Katz, Nathans and Papaya King’s.
From this list, I found a few new dogs to bookmark. Most notably the ones from Old Town Bar, Best Provisions and Rawley’s. I don’t like them fancy dogs and Chicago style does not interest me at all.
